How to pick the right Bouncy Castle

Over the years, we've learnt a few things about how to pick the right bouncy castle. It doesn't matter if you're planning a small get together or a large celebration, we will have something the kids will love.

There are a few challenges when it comes to picking the right castle

It's hard:

  • Browsing all the options
  • Figuring out what will fit
  • Catering for the right age
  • Planning for the number of children

There are plenty of bouncy castles to hire in Auckland, but this doesn't necessarily make it any easier to pick one! There are two main reasons why this is can be hard.

  1. Companies use different words which can make it hard for customers to understand and compare options
  2. Websites aren't laid out efficiently, which makes it difficult going between different options

Both of these can lead to spending far too much time making a choice which should be easy. (Also, a million tabs on your screen).

This guide will help you avoid this if you follow it step by step

Step 1: Working with the space you've got

The first thing to consider is the area that you plan on setting up the bouncy castle. If you have a lot of space to work with (and no height limit) you will be able to choose from any of our castles (you can skip to the step 2).

If your space is narrow, we still have backyard options that will work. You can look at a slide with a bouncing area, an obstacle course or even our circus themed bouncy castle.

All of our castles can be set up on concrete. Even if your space is small, we'll have a range to fit most off street parking areas. The three options above are all perfect options for driveways that might be narrow.

Height has never been an issue with our backyard range. Low hanging branches can sometimes be an issue for our themed castles (which are 4 metres tall).

If in doubt; make a booking, then measure it out (we can always swap to something else later or double check your space by asking for a photo of your backyard or using Google Maps).

Step 2: Picking something age appropriate

If the kids coming over are all roughly the same age, you can skip to step 3.

It can be difficult to find something that will cater towards children of different abilities. This is because younger kids can use any bouncy castle, but older kids are normally too big to use smaller bouncy castles.

There are a couple of ways around this:

  • If only a couple of older children are coming along and there are other activities for them, you'll be fine picking something designed for younger kids
  • If only a couple of younger children coming, they can still use equipment for older kids. Make sure they take turns and play nice.

Step 3: Picking something for the group size

When groups start to reach 15 or more children, you'll need to start looking into larger bouncy castles, a slide or an obstacle course.

Picking from either of these options means that children won't need to take turns and sit out. This is really helpful if you don't have many activities planned outside of the bouncy castle.

Our themed castles range is also a good decision for the larger groups. Some parents do opt to have the castle personalised with their child's name on a Happy Birthday banner for these larger parties. These castles allow for large groups of all ages to enjoy the castle at the same time and either of these options are by far the best value for money that we have to offer.

Otherwise if you do have other activities planned for the day, you can make any of our other castles work.
